Meyer Hospital Medical Doctors are visiting Eritrea

Annulliamo la Distanza volunteers just came back from Eritrea where all AnlaDi projects have been monitored.

Medical Doctors working at the Children’s Hospital Meyer of Florence took part to the mission. They carried out training courses on paediatric emergency rescue procedures for Eritrean MD.

The courses were organized under the umbrella of the three-year project co-funded by Annulliamo la Distanza and the European Union Delegation to Eritrea. The project includes also the restructuring of the Paediatric Emergency Department and the supply of equipment and medical devices for improving the medical care services.

PBLS and EPALS rescue procedures training courses were held by certified instructors (MD Cristiana Benucci and Nurse Francesco Severi) with the support of MD Francesco Mannelli, volunteer of Annulliamo la Distanza and former head of the Emergency Department of the Meyer Hospital. The instructors ascertained the excellent preparation of the participants who proved to have a great motivation and enthusiasm in conducting the courses, which included few frontal lessons and numerous practical activities on medical procedures and clinical cases with the use of mannequins.

During the trainings, our volunteers received a visit from the Vice Minister of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Emanuela Del Re, who met our staff and congratulated the association for the work done over the past twenty years in favour of Eritrean children.
